Dead Island is a game that recently jumped back into the limelight due to it’s exceptional trailer. As more details come forth about Dead Island, it becomes clear that this could possibly be a good contender for Left 4 Dead.

Dead Island is actually the island of Banoi. A small island in the South Pacific, and home to the posh Royal Palms Resort, a get away for those that want to truly GET AWAY, and have the money to accomplish this. Being this exclusive is s double edge sword however when a mysterious zombie outbreak occurs. Now you are faced with an island contaminated by  flesh eaters and only you and a few other are immune. Now you have to make your way off the island and back to safety.

Dead Island claims to be a much more personal and in your face type of zombie-fest sporting, ”…first-person action gameplay with a close-quarter, immersive melee focus.”

Much like Left 4 Dead, Dead Island will support four player drop in/drop out co-op. It also sounds like they have learned a bit from Dead Rising 2′s take on weapon combinations as well.
