Cee Lo Green is quite the musical talent. Starting off with the “Goodie-Mob” as just one member of their “dirty south” rap group back in the day, he has grown to be multi-talented and definitely branched out. Also probably has the best looking teeth I have ever seen, for real.
Cee Lo was also part of the two man group “Gnarls Barkley” (and very well may still be, I don’t know) along with Danger Mouse. Their two albums “St. Elsewhere” and “The Odd Couple” were and still are in heavy rotation in my playlists. Breaking new ground and defining their own style of music Gnarls Barkley was able to pull different aspects from tried and true musical genres and meld them together in something of perfect storm. Hip Hop mixed with a bit of R&B and even Gospel made it easily approachable for all sorts of music lovers.
Drawing from that experience Cee Lo released another solo album upon newly converted fans as well as his faithful fans to much success. “The Lady Killer” as described by a friend of mine as “Cee Lo channeling Stevie Wonder, Rick James, Ray Charles and John Legend all at the same time.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Favorites so far are: Bright Lights Bigger City, Fuck You, and I Want You.
Seriously, tell me this isn’t the best song you have heard in years.
